The beautiful embroideries are designed and embroidered by women from the MAPULA  EMBROIDERIES situated in the Winterveld, specially commissioned by Mathilde&Amélie.

The Winterveld is an impoverished, under-served rural area approximately 45 km northwest of Pretoria, South Africa. There are very few work opportunities and to most of the women, this is their only income apart from social grants that they live on to educate and feed their children.  Their work hangs in museums and private collections world wide.  Initiated by Pretoria Soroptimistsand assisted by the Sisters of Mercy at the DWT Nthathe Adult Education Centre in the Winterveld, MAPULA EMBROIDERIES is now an independent trust and NPO with ongoing support from Soroptimist International world wide.
